Effect of NAA Treatment on the Water Sprout and Sucker Control of Apple Trees

Abstract
|
|
|
The study was carried out to determine the effectiveness of various rates and time of NAA application on sprouts or suckers control in scaffold limbs and trunks of apple trees. And the results obtained were as follows.
1. Application of NAA significantly inhibited the number of sprouts and suckers in scaffold limbs or trunks.
2. Sprout growth was inhibited more with NAA application than control. And there was no differences among treatments in the shoot length.
3. Effect of NAA in decreasing the sprouts number was carried over the next year.
4. NAA decreased the scaffold diameter, but no differences were found in trunk growth. 5. Fruit size was not affected by NAA application.
